E3 Predictions 2018: Sony Showcase
Sony will once again look to raise the roof at this years E3 when they present their showcase on June 11th at 6pm PT (2am BST June 12th).
Here are 5 predictions for what I think they might show.
Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima gameplay and 2019 release windows.
Sony has come out and stated that they will be showcasing 4 major titles at E3 this year, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding. With Spider-Man being out in September and Death Stranding still expected to be a way off I think that The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima will not only get solid gameplay demos, but a 2019 release window too. Days Gone was recently announced to be coming in 2019 so I can see sony wanting these two to accompany it to have 3 big titles next year like they did this year with God of War, Detroit Become Human and Spider-Man.
The first Bloodborne was released in 2015 to a fantastic reception both critically and amongst fans. 3 years later it is fair to assume that Sony has at least thought about a sequel and with first party offerings beyond 2019 not yet known I wouldn’t be surprised if at least a teaser trailer is shown at E3 this year. Sony also stated that they would be taking a deeper look at 4 of their exclusives this year and so a surprise announcement of Bloodborne 2 would help hit those surprise hype moments that E3 is famous for.
New Crash Bandicoot Game
Last year Crash made his triumphant return in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy with updated visuals and controls for the first 3 games. Fans made their excitement known with huge sales and I can see Activision wanting to capitalise on that with a brand new game for the bandicoot. With the N. Sane Trilogy set to release on other platforms this June I can see a new game being multi platform too but a reveal on Sony’s stage, given their history with the series, makes complete sense.
Devil May Cry 5
Devil May Cry 5 has long been rumoured and with the recent release of Devil May Cry HD Collection it seems the perfect time to announce a sequel for current gen consoles. Fans have wanted a new iteration for a long time and an announcement on Sony’s stage would provide a massive audience for the reveal.
CD Projekt Red-Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red have announced that they will have an RPG at E3 and everyone is predicting that it will be their long in development Cyberpunk 2077. Despite Sony having a stacked show, we now know 4 of their focused games thanks to their blog post. This would allow for CD Projekt Red to potentially steal the limelight of excitement if they were to reveal gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 at arguably the biggest show at E3.
