E3 Predictions 2018: Microsoft Xbox Briefing
Microsoft have scheduled their Xbox briefing for Saturday 10th June at 1pm PT/ 9pm BST.
Here are 5 things I think they might show.
Gears of War 5
Now many of you might be thinking ‘well that’s an obvious one’ but this one comes with a little asterisk, Gears of War 5 will be announced not Halo 6. Many people are expecting the latest instalment in the Halo series to be shown this year but I think that they might hold fire on that to release it as a cross generation title. It’s a good guess to assume a Forza game will be announced this year which means that if Microsoft wants to hit hard with first party titles then Gears of War 5 will likely be the second of the ‘three pillars’ to be shown.
Splinter Cell Trailer
Splinter Cell is expected to make its return this year at E3 especially with the cameo of Sam Fisher in Ghost Recon Wildlands. With Ubisoft having their own conference on Monday its likely that they will save any gameplay for their show but with the series strong associations to the Xbox platform I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft shows off a trailer or teaser on their stage.
Fable is another series that Xbox fans have long wanted to return. Microsoft has been on the back foot in terms of first party exclusives compared to Sony this generation, so its likely that another Fable game could well be in development and shown this E3 to boost their offerings.
It it is shown it would likely be a teaser trailer as there is little information about a sequel but if Microsoft has some how kept its existence under wraps and has gameplay to show then fans would go wild.
Rocksteady Superman Game
Rocksteady’s next game has been speculated on for years now but many believe that it will be a Superman game and that it could be shown at E3 this year. With Sony having an exclusive Spider-Man game on the PS4 I’m sure that Microsoft would love a superhero game of their own to debut on their stage even if it ends up being multi-platform.
Square Enix Avengers Game
Square Enix has their own conference this year on Monday the 11th so if this game is shown on Microsoft’s stage expect only a trailer but it would make a lot of sense for Square Enix to have them show a first look at their game. It would surely bring a lot more attention to their own conference and with Sony set to show a lot more of Spider-Man then giving the Avengers their own space on Microsoft’s stage would be a smart move.
If somehow Microsoft has got this as an Xbox exclusive too that would be massive for the platform but I find this hard to believe.
We only have to wait a few weeks to find out what Microsoft will show but until then let me know your predictions in the comments.
