In March of 2018 Lucasfilm announced that Jon Favreau was set to write and executive produce a live action Star Wars series set to debut on Disney’s up and coming direct-to-consumer platform.

At the time more information was not provided but at the Han Solo premier Favreau gave the first details on this series when talking on the red carpet to Dan Casey from Nerdist.

Favreau revealed that the series is set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, specifically around 7 years after the Battle of Endor. It will feature all new characters using cutting edge technology similar to the Jungle Book.

This time period is sure to excite many Star Wars fans as there are countless Legend stories that Favreau could pull from to flesh out the current cannon.

Personally I was hoping this series would be set between Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One where we could have seen Darth Vader hunting down the Jedi that survived Order 66. This time period however opens the door for us to see Luke exploring the galaxy and his journey to rebuilding the Jedi Order and maybe even find out how Snoke established himself and the First Order.

With the release of Solo also fast approaching this announcement will likely get people speculating that Alden Ehrenreich could also reprise his role as Han Solo and maybe even see the long standing fan theory that Sebastian Stan could play a young Luke come true.

With the time period now established it will be for the fans to anticipate and speculate on the characters that will be included until we get more information from Lucasfilm or Jon Favreau.

Let me know what stories you are hoping to see develop from this time period in the comments below.
